EP64: The Where of Focused Attention

Welcome to this new episode of The Water Ski Podcast.

In this new episode of Swerve Psyc, Matteo touches on the concept of locus of attention, differentiating between internal (thoughts or parts of the body) and external (e.g., handle, ski, buoys, boat). Research in motor skill learning and sport psychology has shown that learning or refining a new skill by maintaining an external locus of attention leads to faster learning, more consistency, and especially less movement disruption when under pressure. Tune in as Matteo gives a few ideas of how to apply these solid findings to water skiing!

Enjoy and please reach out to let Matteo know what you think about this or future Swerve Psyc episodes.
